Hope for Heroes Horsemanship Center offers a therapeutic horsemanship program, free of charge, to veterans and active-duty service members carrying PTSD and other wounds of war, at its ranch in Yelm, Washington. The program pairs groundwork and mounted riding with a trained herd, working through structured lessons and mountain trail obstacle courses. The nonprofit treats its horses as the only therapists on staff, and also publishes curriculum manuals to help other communities start similar programs.
