Broke-a-toe has run horseback rides on the beach at Cape San Blas near Port St. Joe, Florida, since 1995, the longest-operating beach-riding outfit on the Florida panhandle. The one-hour ride opens with a short lesson and mount, then spends the balance out along the sand at an easy walk, the only pace Gulf County allows. Rides depart from Salinas Park within a 220-pound limit, and little ones aged three or four can ride double with a light adult.
